Trooper Burt goes beyond the call of duty

I would like everyone in the Columbia Basin to know that there is a very wonderful State Patrolman, his name is officer “Burt”, a Ritzville State Trooper.

“A friend” or so I thought got me lost, you see I’m from Othello. Then he took my money, my jacket, my flashlight.

I thought he was going for gas. There was not a house or car in sight. It was 3 or 4 in the morning and he, my friend, left me all alone on the side of the road with no gas, in the middle of I don’t know where.

A trucker came by and stopped and I’m in hysterics, cold and scared, he called the State Patrol and a little while late...
