Lady Broncos lose league battle against Wilbur-Creston

The Lady Broncos fought hard to beat the Wilbur-Creston Lady Wildcats on Thursday, Oct. 8, but were unable to secure the win.

The game came to a close with set scores of 10-25, 25-19, 14-25 and 19-25.

The Lady Broncos did their best to stay in the game with intensity for the duration of the match.

Head Coach Cari Galbreath stated that she “believes we lost because we would get in a drought for too long.”

These droughts are shown in the stats, the Lady Broncos had a total of 15 hitting errors and seven serving errors.

The second and fourth matches were close games where the sets had some good, long rallies.

Coach Galbreath said, “With a match like that we can’t have droughts we have to fix things and make changes sooner.”

The team performed equally defensively and offensively with 25 digs and 23 kills.

Rachel Schell led with nine digs followed by Tessa O’Brien with seven.

Tessa Jantz led the team in kills with eight, followed by Madison Harder with six.

There were only four aces in the match, two from Schell and one each for Lacey Miller and Jantz.

Coach Galbreath also said that, “The Broncos had some of their best moments playing together as a team that night.”

For the next match she would like to work on improving and coming together as a team.

The Lady Broncos face the Davenport Lady Gorillas on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. This is a league match and will be at Davenport.

The team will then face the Kittitas Lady Coyotes on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 12:30 p.m. on the road.

The Lady Broncos next home match will be on Tuesday, Oct. 20, versus the Liberty Lady Patriots at 6:30 p.m. The league match will be held at Gilson Gym.
