Tailgate at the EACH Foundation Auction

The 23rd Annual East Adams County Healthcare Foundation Wine Tasting and Auction takes place on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the C.J. Newland American Legion Memorial Hall on Broadway Avenue beginning at 6 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased for $30 at the door.

The theme for the evening event is “Sip, Taste and Tailgate” and Classy Country Catering is providing the meal. The menu includes barbecue smoked chicken thighs, short ribs, Parmesan potatoes, beans, coleslaw, corn bread, warm apple crisp, iced tea and lemonade.

A full service bar with signature drinks, beer and wine is also provided at the event.

This year, the themed event encourages attendees to wear their favorite team’s apparel in order to enhance the tailgating atmosphere.

Dr. Warren Kragt is serving as the auctioneer and master of ceremonies for the event.

The event begins with an extensive silent auction that provides those in attendance with a variety of items to bid on. This year, the EACH Foundation has received an almost record breaking amount of donations for the auction.

The live auction has an estimated 35 items available for purchase. Nearly 60 silent auction items are also available for purchase.

The auction items range from handmade items to trips throughout the Pacific Northwest. The wide array of donations also allows individuals to get a jump on their Christmas shopping by purchasing items that serve as great gifts.

The list of items includes Seahawks Party Tub, Eastern Washington University and Spokane Shock football package, Washington State Cougars package, Hayden Lake Retreat, two truck loads of gravel, power washer, four course Wine Dinner for eight at the Corral Restaurant in Warden, a ski and stay package at the Silver Mountain Resort, harvest lunch for eight people, Triple Play Family Fun Park package, Maryhill Winery tour and wine tasting, Wildhorse Casino and Resort package, one-year of advertising in the business directory in the Ritzville Journal, a Gonzaga package and a Seattle Adventure Package.

Door prizes will also be distributed throughout the evening.

Every year, the EACH Foundation uses the funds raised at the auction to provide necessary upgrades for the hospital, clinic and the EMTs. The EACH Foundation received priority requests from each entity and does the best to provide them with the necessary equipment.

In previous years, the funds have been used to provide new furniture in the hospital lobby, new furniture in the exam rooms and a gurney for the new ambulance, as well as help host medical students visiting the community.

Recent additions have included donations to the EMT building, a defibrillator for Lind-Ritzville High School, CPR Training Kit for the senior class to complete a CPR class prior to graduating, and a sick bed at the Washtucna School District.

Other additions have included a new x-ray table for the hospital that provides the hospital with advanced technology to help better serve their patients, and a CPR compression vest for the EMT staff to use.

The EACH Foundation also provides two scholarships annually to individuals pursuing a career in the medical field. The $1,000 Ronald W. Baumann Memorial scholarships are awarded to individuals pursuing an education in the healthcare field at the college level that live within the hospital district, covering the communities of Ritzville, Lind and Washtucna.

This is the sole fundraiser for the EACH Foundation, whose primary goals are to help serve Adams County Health District No. 2 and the residents of eastern Adams County. EACH Foundation is a nonprofit organization operating under the Internal Revenue Service designation of a 501 (c)(3). The funds raised at this event are spent inside the boundary of the health district.
