Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887

Celia Ann Streeter Replogle

Celia Ann Streeter Replogle was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Ritzville, to Mary and Ralph Streeter, members of pioneer families of the area.

She graduated with the Ritzville High School class of 1942. She worked many years for the Adams County Department of Public Assistance.

She married Bert Kyle Replogle on May 9, 1959. They followed his career as a geological engineer and raised their two children in Carson City, Nevada.

Wherever she found her place in life, she sang in church choirs and choral groups.

She took delight and comfort in what she considered “lost skills” such as using her 1930’s Noiseless Underwood Typewriter, Gregg shorthand, diagramming sentences, trying to remember the Palmer method of writing, using an outdoor clothesline and learning how to sew on her grandmother Celia’s treadle machine and then her own 1958 machine.

She was a “Jane-ite”, so much so, that she followed in author Jane Austen’s footsteps when taking a trip to England.

Throughout her life she was involved in some sort of volunteer work and from childhood on she considered herself a member of the Ritzville Zion Church.

Her husband Bert died Jan. 29, 2002. She died Sept. 23, 2015, and now is with her husband in the family plot in Ritzville.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Anna Replogle of Reno, Nevada and son Albert Replogle of Carson City, Nevada.

There will be a memorial service celebrating her life on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the Zion Philadelphia United Church of Christ in Ritzville at 11:00 a.m.

Danekas Funeral Home and Crematory-Ritzville is entrusted with arrangements.
