Superintendent Commentary: Community Chats

It’s been a great start to the school year so far and we would all like to thank our parents, staff, students and community members for the great start we’ve had!

The “Back-to-School Ice Cream Social” was fantastic! The attendance and socialization that took place was very enjoyable.

We will make sure that these “Back-to-School” socials will continue for many years to come!

We will be changing the name and the format of our “Community Chats” we organized earlier in the year to “Superintendent Home Visits” and rather than meeting at Java Bloom or Sonny’s, we will be setting up “Home Visits” and stopping by the homes to get to know our community members and their history in our town better.

If you have any questions or would like to have the Superintendent visit, please contact our Office Manager, Shauna Miller at 646-3237 and set up a date and time for a “Home Visit”.

We will also be organizing a more formal “Citizen’s Advisory Committee” that will gather public input and establish interaction with the community.

This committee will focus on the school district and school building goals for the year from the citizen’s or the community member’s perspective.

The committee will be made up of the following group of stakeholders and will meet four times a year.

We will establish the committee in September and meet in the following months of the 2015-16 school year; October, November, February and May: Superintendent/Principal, Vance Wing; one teacher; one classified school staff; and three parents.

If you would like to be a part of this committee, please contact Mr. Wing at the number above or at 438-3951 and we will create space for you.

We hope your school year has been a good one and look forward to meeting with you in the coming months!
