Sprague Hay Days returns Sept. 12-13

The 2015 Sprague Days is set for Sept. 12-13 in downtown Sprague. Sprague Chamber volunteers are working to bring ‘Good Old-Fashioned Family Fun’ back to Sprague again.

Festivities begin Saturday, Sept. 12, at 9 a.m. with a Chalk Art Contest on downtown sidewalks.

Vendors will be set up in the park about the same time, including bake sales, crafts, merchants, used books, Spokane Cheesecake, and other fun and foods continuing all day.

The Inland Northwest Blood Center mobile unit has been invited back, Sprague’s Cruising the Lake Car Show will be going on as well.

All car lovers are invited to bring and share their favorites.

The Sprague Days Parade will line up at Fifth and F. Streets at 10 a.m., marching down Second Street.

The route has been changed due to the closure of Main Street. All businesses, clubs, families, politicians, community representatives and kids are welcome to join the Sprague Days Parade.

Musical entertainment and karaoke will be in the park from noon–2 p.m., Youth and Adult games and contests from 2–4 p.m. and a Talent Show for all ages from 4-6 p.m.

Prizes for Chalk Art Contest are provided by The Viking, the Games and Contests by Dot’s Antiques and the Talent Show by U.S. Bank.

Sprague Chamber Sprague Days Raffle tickets will be on sale from now until 3 p.m. Sept. 12, with drawings then for over a dozen prizes from local merchants such as Hub International, Fox’s Pet Rescue, Owl Pharmacy, Margo’s Jewels, Marie Wilken’s 31, Ed Stephen’s Leathercraft and others.

Sprague Volunteer Firefighters will pit their skills against neighboring departments in the Firefighter’s Challenge at 6 p.m.

This event was a huge hit last year and went viral on YouTube, and this year already has two other teams entering. The event is held in the park and all are invited to attend.

Following the Firefighter’s Challenge there will be a Free Family Movie showing downtown by the Centennial Plaza like an old-fashioned drive-in movie.

If the weather does not cooperate, the event will be held in the Community Hall. Free popcorn and water will be served.

On Sunday, an all-community Church Service will be held in the park at 10 a.m. Join the Friends of the Library for Breakfast in the Community Hall before or after, from 7 a.m. until noon.

The Sprague Days organizers hope for a large attendance to participate in good old fashioned family fun in Sprague.
