The annual Ritzville Jamboree kicks off the gridiron season for the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos football team on Friday, Aug. 28.
The jamboree begins at 6 p.m. at Jimmie Snider Field.
The annual event allows coaches from across Eastern Washington to participate in a preseason event and give the teams an opportunity to fine-tune their skills and determine line up positions for the start of the season.
This year, NE 2B league teams participating are LRS, Northwest Christian, Davenport and Colfax. Other varsity teams at the event are Tri-Cities Prep, Warden and Medical Lake.
The jamboree also serves as an opportunity for LRS to prep for the season opener game against Davenport on Sept. 4.
The jamboree is played in a round robin format, with each team receiving 40 total plays: 20 offense and 20 defense. During the event, there are no scores kept and special teams and kicking are not allowed.
The Broncos begin on offense against Medical Lake at 6 p.m. on the west end of the field. They meet up again against Medical Lake on defense around 6:27 p.m. at the east end of the field.
The LRS team returns to offense against Warden at 6:45 p.m. on the west end of the field, before playing defense against Northwest Christian at 6:54 p.m.
Admission to the event is $3 for everyone ages five and up, season passes are not accepted for the event.
Concessions will be available at the event.
