Phyllis Ziemer celebrates 100th birthday

The community helped celebrate the 100th birthday of Ritzville native Phyllis Ziemer, who turned 100 on Aug. 11.

Born Phyllis Schwisow in Ritzville, she has been a lifelong resident of Eastern Washington. Phyllis and her husband Richard married in 1935 and farmed locally until 1947 when they moved to Davenport.

Phyllis is believed to be the oldest living alumni of Ritzville High School.
