Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
GRAIN TERMINAL. With the 2015 wheat season starting two weeks early, and even three weeks early in parts of Adams County, farmers are seeing an initial decrease in yields throughout the county. At the Ritzville Warehouse grain terminal outside Ritzville, the piles of grain are just beginning to accumulate. Managers from Ritzville Warehouse Company and Gavilon Grain, dba Union Elevator, have reported reduced yields during the early season, which was brought on by hot weather patterns in the area. The reduced yields are being attributed to cold weather periods at the wrong time of the growing season, as well as the hot weather that eventually resulted in an early harvest for area farmers. -Journal photo by Katelin Davidson
