Mayor Pro-Tem Ben Cross, called the regular Ritzville City council meeting to order at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19.
The meeting began with Mike Schrag requesting support for the Adams County Development Council banquet Friday, June 26.
The annual banquet will be held at the Legion Hall and catered by Marie Borth. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door with guest keynote speaker Alex McGregor. Banquet begins at 5 p.m. with a social hour and meals served at 6 p.m.
The meeting continued with updates from council members. Cross spoke of contacting an organization that would help fund replacement of the sand traps and future plans to build a retaining wall near the sixth green on Division Street.
Schrag informed council that the tree board is working on ideas and plans for First Avenue beautification. Memorial trees were also discussed, which would allow community members to plant memorials for loved ones around town.
Advocates of the future dog park are still searching for a proper piece of land, which will be sufficient for the needs of the park. Big Bend Electric Cooperative has mentioned the possibility of a land donation for the park. Advocates will meet Tuesday, June 9, to discuss ideas further in hopes to begin the project.
A motion was made and unanimously accepted for the Ritzville Public Library parking spaces. The spaces will be set for 30-minute parking for all library patrons.
