The third annual Ritzville Small Town Cache Cow Event, hosted by the Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce, was held at the Ritzville Train Depot over Memorial Day weekend. Activities, games, food, prizes and of course the real-world, outdoor treasure hunt using GPS-enabled devices brought participants from around the area began at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, lasting throughout the day.
The first 50 cachers to return to the depot with completed forms for the treasure hunt were awarded a 2015 Ritzville Cache Cow event pathtag. Participants use smart phones, tablets or GPS devices for the activities and treasure hunt. In the app they are asked to create a profile and their own user name.
Winners of activities throughout the day were awarded prizes including a Ready-To-Go Backpack for Pirates of the St. Joe, GeOlympics winner from St. Maries Idaho. Winner of the Tyche’s Poker Run, Daisy Emily, won a Ready-To-Place Ammo Can Cache.
The Bingo winner was participant with the alias of Chattaroy and the first team back from The Challenge of Mount Olympus included Tumbleweed Pirates, ESN911, Littlest Kidlet, Dead Sailor and three Atomic Rascals.
Attendees traveled from around the area including Richland, Walla Walla, East Wenatchee, Quincy, Spokane, Okanogan, Cheney, Kennewick, St. Maries Idaho and Lind to attend the fun filled weekend and challenges of the Ritzville Small Town Cache Cow Event.
