Local community members participate in annual Bloomsday race

More than 42,000 people took to the streets of Spokane for the 39th annual Bloomsday on May 3.

Of the racing group, which was smallest it has been since 2007, nearly 70 individuals were from the local communities.

The fastest time recorded from the local communities was ran by Tracy Melville, of Lamont, finishing under an hour with a time of 48:50.

Melville placed third out of 541 competitiors her age and first out of 281 18-year-old females at the race. {{more}]

She placed first out of the 1,067 in her age group, and 50th of 25,139 females partipating in the race.
