With over 700 athletes registered to compete in the 10th Annual Undeberg Invitational on April 25, the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague girls’ team ran away with the Team Champion title.
The girls had a successful day on the track, running to victory in multiple events and setting new event records across the board.
The girls won the meet handily with 86 points, followed by Colfax who earned 70.5 points.
The LRS boys placed 15th with 24 points. Alan Field earned the points for the boys’ team with three second place finishes on Saturday.
The girls proved their strength in the first event, the 4x200-meter relay, when they ran a personal best time of 1:48.92 and broke the meet record. In the following event, the 3200-meter race, Tracy Melville also set a new event record by placing first with a time of 11:05.35.
The track was filled with athletes and spectators from 10:30 a.m. until just after 6 p.m. as athletes competed in their events. Thirty-nine teams competed in the 10th annual event, while countless volunteers worked to ensure the meet ran efficiently.
