I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dave Ahrens (Ritzville Lumber) for taking on the enormous task of cleaning up the eyesore at the old tire shop on 1st Avenue. This has long been an embarrassment to many of us that call Ritzville home and it’s a pleasure to go by and see the changes Dave has made.
Not only has he emptied the building, hauled massive amounts of “junk” to the dump, power washed the outside and donated hundreds of bikes to a charitable organization, he actually has plans to utilize this landmark for a new business venture.
I understand Dave’s wife played an important role in this transformation and hat’s off to her as well.
It does my heart good to know the bikes went to where they will be restored and given to needy kids and to know that travelers entering Ritzville on 1st Ave. will no longer have to look at piles of trash and moldy furnishings out in the lot. Thank you, Dave!
Carly Gillette, Ritzville
