Melville sets new school record in 3200 race

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos competed in the first track and field meet of the season at the annual Ezra Gordon Invitational in Colville on Saturday, March 28.

At the meet, newcomer to the track and field team Tracy Melville set a new school record in the 3200-meter race with a time of 11:25.45.

Vickie Stelzer set the record in 1988, and Melville knocked almost exactly 10 seconds off the previous time.

With two first place finishes at the meet, Melville helped lead the LRS girls’ team to a fourth place finish with 62 total points.

The LRS boys’ team finished 13th with 12 points.
