Erma H. Ferderer-Spencer

Erma H. Ferderer-Spencer, 90, died March 12, in Spokane at Avalon Care Center. She was born March 10, 1925 to Ludwig and Catharina Wellsandt on a farm near Ritzville.

She attended Ralston grade schools and graduated from Ritzville High School in 1943. In 1944 Erma married Henry Ferderer. Together they had two children, Ken and Kathy. Henry passed away in 1986 and in 1991, Erma married Raymond Spencer, a longtime friend. They lived in Ritzville until 2009, when Erma moved to Avalon Care Center, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

She was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church where she served as Financial Secretary, President and Secretary of Circles and on the Funeral Committee. She was very active in the Legion Auxiliary and other community activities.

Survivors include her husband Ray Spencer; children: Ken (Berni) Ferderer and Kathy Lindell, 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; sister in laws: Roberta Wellsandt, Verna Bloxom and Alma Ferderer.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Henry in 1986, her sisters: Alma Grove in 1989, Helen Knodel in 2000 and her brother: Vernon Wellsandt in 2013.

Visitation will be at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville on Tuesday March 17, at 12 p.m. and followed by a Funeral Service at 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Ritzville.

Danekas Funeral Home-Ritzville is entrusted with arrangements.
