Farm Service Agency is sponsoring an informational meeting on 2014 Farm Bill programs for livestock producers. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 27, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Wheat Growers Annex building, 109 East First Avenue, in Ritzville. The meeting will conclude no later than 3 p.m.
Under the current farm bill, programs are authorized to assist with losses to livestock and forage as a result of weather related conditions, including wildfire, drought, extreme cold, blizzard and similar natural disasters.
Program participants will be presented with information on required record keeping and notification requirements to maintain eligibility for program benefits in the event of disaster.
Information will also be provided on disaster assistance programs available to provide enhanced levels of coverage for forage production under the Noninsured Assistance Program, and an update of the new provisions associated with use of Conservation Reserve Program acreage under routine haying and grazing, and emergency use provisions.
