Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
Apollo Solutions Group (ASG) is hard at work with construction projects in and around East Adams Rural Hospital.
The last two weeks have served as an opportunity for the hospital district to move closer into compliance with issues cited by the Department of Health.
Hospital District CEO/CFO Gary Bostrom explained the project slowed for awhile as the district and contractors awaiting a response from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding the approval of plans to have the fire suppression sprinkler system installed at a later date.
Without approval from CMS, Bostrom explained plans are now being drafted to being installation on the sprinkler system, even though the system will be removed and replaced later in the construction project, which is an additional cost to the district.
On the exterior of the building, concrete pads have been laid and on Tuesday, Feb. 17, the emergency generator and air chillers were dropped into place for installation.
ASG Unit Manager Mike Fuentes said the new boilers should be installed inside the hospital in the upcoming week.
By the end of March, Fuentes expects the essential electrical component to be completed at the hospital, moving the district into compliance with that portion of the project.
The district has until May 1 to be incompliance on fire and life safety citations.
The old garage on the premises is being used as the electrical room, and while the majority of the new system has been installed, conduit still needs to be run into the building.
The new system bypasses the old electrical set up and generator that the hospital had been cited for last year.
With a portion of the clinic cordoned off and closed for construction, the project is moving quickly as ceilings are torn out and conduit is beginning to be installed for the emergency electrical panel located in that portion of the hospital.
Plans are now being drafted for the sprinkler system installation throughout the hospital.
