Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The Adams County Commissioners opened their public hearing on Resolution-008 to declare 10 vehicles in the Adams County lot as surplus.
Public Works Director Todd O’Brien said the county could no longer utilize the vehicles. He also said anything the county could use off of the vehicles; bedrails, toolboxes and the like; had been stripped off of them already.
The list of vehicles included a 1999 Ford F-250, a 1994 Ford F-150, two 1998 Ford F-250’s, a 1996 Chevy Cavalier, a 1995 Ford Explorer, two 2008 Ford Crown Victoria’s from the Sheriff’s Department, a 1993 Mack dump truck and a 1983 International 10-yard sander truck.
Though all of the vehicles run, many have mechanical problems.
County Engineer Scott Yaeger reported three of the vehicles have problems with their transmissions, one has an engine knock, and the International truck uses a large amount of oil when it is running.
The age of the vehicles and the use makes repairing them not worthwhile for the county.
After the conclusion of the hearing the commissioners voted unanimously to sign the resolution declaring the listed vehicles as surplus.
They will be sold at the Booker Auction Company’s annual Eltopia Auction held on March 14 in Eltopia.
