CF Industries awards mini-grants to schools

With more than $800,000 awarded to teachers, CF Industries continues to support learning by providing teachers with funding opportunities.

The Ritzville Terminal has contributed more that $70,000 to support public safety, education and youth organizations in the Ritzville community. This year, they donated $2,591 to teachers from Ritzville Grade School and Lind-Ritzville High School.

Dennis Schilling, Superintendent of CF Industries’ Ritzville Terminal, awarded the grants to the teachers on Monday. Nov. 17

Diane Leffel, Kimberley Weishaar, Carol Templin, Jennifer Boness and Martha Heidenreich of Ritzville grade School and Donna Koch of Lind-Ritzville High School each received funding from the minigrant program.

With this support, the students will be able to learn about the environment and how to protect it; the connection between apples and bees; the life cycle of plants, insects and pebbles.

High school students will be learning about different cuts of beef and cooking techniques as well as the nutritional benefits of beef and creating beef based recipes.

“The creative projects make supporting the Lind-Ritzville’s teachers a pleasure,” said Schilling. “It is always interesting to see what innovative educational opportunities the teachers come up with for their CF Industries’ Classroom Minigrant applications.”

CF Industries’ Ritzville Terminal has been a part of the Ritzville community since 1983.

The terminal continues to provide quality plant food nutrients to farm retailers and industrial customers throughout the region.
