The annual Ritzville Christmas Kickoff weekend occurs on Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6, throughout the City of Ritzville.
Events begin with Paws for Claus at the Ritzville Drug Company from 4-6 p.m. on Dec. 5.
At 5:30 p.m. Friday, Mayor Linda Kadlec will have the honor of lighting the tree, followed by caroling at the tree around 5:45 p.m. The event includes holiday treats at the Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce office.
Local businesses are participating in a Shop Local campaign during the two-day event. The businesses’ specials for the holiday season will be listed in the Dec. 4 edition of The Journal.
The Ritzville Festivals Association is hosting the annual Christmas tree sale, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 6. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, the AAUW Holiday Bazaar is occurring at the Ritzville Grade School.
The free children’s movie matinee is Polar Express is Dec. 6. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. with the movie starting at 2 p.m. The Ritzville Fire Department will deliver Santa after the movie, where children will receive free treats.
