Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
Washington’s Guaranteed Education Tuition (GET) program’s enrollment period opened Nov. 1 and provides the opportunity for families with young children to start an account and begin saving for college with the state’s 529 prepaid tuition plan. The enrollment period runs through May 31, 2015.
While enrollment continues to grow, so does the number of Washington families who are cashing in on their savings.
Student distributions have now surpassed the half-billion-dollar mark ($598 million), with nearly 38,000 students using or having used their accounts to attend college in all 50 states and 15 foreign countries. GET beneficiaries have the freedom to follow their ambitions wherever they choose, as the program can be used at nearly any public or private university, community college, or technical school in the country.
GET’s new website, http://get.wa.gov, offers details, charts, planning tools and answers for questions that families may have about the program. Accounts can be opened online, and the GET Contact Center staff is ready to help at 800-955-2318 or [email protected].
