The Lind and Ritzville School Districts honored local veterans at Veterans Day assembly held on Thursday, Nov. 6.
In the morning, Lind School District students gathered in the middle school gymnasium to take part in the assembly, which began with patriotic music played by the middle school band.
Bryce Kelly, eighth grade, and Mercedes Miller, sixth grade, also read their Veterans of Foreign Wars “Why I Appreciate American Veterans” essays for those present.
The assembly concluded with a flag folding demonstration by Bill Wills and students from both the middle school and grade school individually thanking the veterans present at the assembly.
The Associated Student Body (ASB) members at Lind-Ritzville High School invited the students in the school district and veterans from the surrounding area to attend a ceremony in Gilson Gymnasium in the afternoon.
The ceremony began with the posting of colors, done by members of the local American Legion and VFW posts. The band played multiple patriotic songs, while ASB members shared on the importance of the American Flag and honoring our veterans.
