Verna Selcho Taylor, 76 of Lyman SC, died on Monday, Nov. 3. Verna was the beloved wife of Jerry A. Taylor Sr. and the devoted daughter of the late John and Esther Selcho.
Verna was retired from Bell South and Taylor Auto Sales. She made enormous contributions to the town of Lyman as, first, a councilwoman and, secondly, as Mayor. The library and water treatment plant are two examples of her dedication to providing much needed services to the citizens of Lyman. Verna was a treasured member of First Baptist Church in Lyman.
Those familiar with Verna knew that her family and her faith were the most important things in her life. She was generous, loving, kind and thoughtful to family and friends alike. If you were her friend, you were her family. She was beautiful inside and out. She make everyone’s day a little brighter just by her mere presence. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. To know her was to love her.
In addition to her husband, Jerry, she is survived by her two adored sons, Junior Taylor and his wife, Allison, of Duncan, and David Taylor of Charleston; five wonderful grandsons, Jared, Nathan and Ridge Taylor and Adam and Jackson Cork; one granddaughter, Summer Ervin Clough; loving brother, Raymond Selcho of Coffeyville, KS, and two beloved sisters, Joan Hauge of Sacramento, CA and Sharon Moore of Lyman. She was predeceased by three loving sisters, Bernice Basso, Linda Kellogg and Charlene Dillon.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. on Nov. 5 at Lyman First Baptist Church followed by services at 1 p.m. officiated by Rev. Scott Stancill, Rev. Carey Hedgpeth, Rev. Randy Rush and Pastor Jeffrey Hickman. Interment is in Wood Memorial Park.
