The LRS Broncos remain undefeated in their regular season as they prepare for their final game against the Colfax Bulldogs.
The Broncos handled the Kettle Falls Bulldogs 51-7 in their Senior Night game.
The Broncos would start the game kicking off against the Bulldogs.
After taking over on downs, the team got the game rolling early with Hugh Hennings completing a Bronco drive for the first touchdown of the night.
The Broncos would recover the kick-off after the touchdown and then score in rapid-fire succession with Jacob Saetre completing the second drive and then Alan Field intercepting a Kettle Falls pass with in the same minute.
In the second quarter Saetre would find a gap in the Bulldog defense for a 36-yard run.
Kettle Falls would intercept Bryce Esser’s pass and return it for the Bulldogs’ only touchdown of the night. Andrew Witt would score for the Broncos in the final minute of the half.
The Broncos would score late in the third quarter with Hennings running 2-yards on a Bronco drive.
In the fourth quarter Matt Leffel would complete a 24-yard field goal attempt.
Mason Brausen would cap off the Bronco scoring for the night, running 57-yards for the Broncos.
Despite the crushing win over the Bulldogs the Broncos had several mistakes during the game that Whitmore said needed to be eliminated.
“We just wanted to congratulate the seniors that they won their senior night but refocus our kids and let them know that we didn’t play very well at times,” Whimore said.
“We’re still trying to figure out the puzzle pieces.”
Whitmore said that contributing to some of the mistakes made by the Broncos during their Senior Night game could be attributed to the changes made to prepare players to start against Colfax.
Skyler Oestriech sat out from the game to ensure his ankle was recovered for this week’s game.
“The field conditions affected us too,” Whimore said.
This week the Broncos will take on the Colfax Bulldogs in their last game of the regular season.
Despite Colfax coming off a two game losing streak to Davenport and Reardan, two teams the Broncos have already bested.
Whitmore still expected the Colfax team to be stiff competition.
“They don’t even know what a three game losing streak is,” he said, “so I’m sure their kids are fired up.”
Whitmore said the Broncos will need their new starters to step up for this game and fill the holes in the line-up after several starters travelled to compete in the FFA National Convention this week.
Regardless of the outcome on Friday night’s game, the Broncos will be the number one seed from the Northeast 2B League.
They will host Wilbur-Creston in the District 9 Crossover game on Friday, Nov. 7.
