The Ritzville Wonderland Float and the Distinguished Young Women of Ritzville have been traveling this summer representing our community at various area parades.
The first parade we attended was the largest parade of the season, the Spokane Lilac Torchlight Parade.
This was the first of two evening lighted parades.
We were excited to come home with two awards from this parade. The Princess Award was the first place award in our division. The second award was a float lighting award. We are so proud of the Festivals Association, as the lighting award is a highly prized award among float designers and builders.
The second lighted parade we attended was the Moses Lake Moonlight Parade. We brought home the Moonlight Award at this parade, and enjoyed a catered dinner with other parade royalty.
Next, we traveled to Reardan for the Mule Days Celebration. We received the Sweepstakes Award at the awards ceremony in the park.
After the awards ceremony and introduction of representatives and royalty, we were treated to a nice luncheon.
The next three parades were close to home. We earned the Grand Sweepstakes Award at the Lind Community Parade, and attended the barbecue lunch at the park after the parade.
On the Fourth of July, we traveled to Washtucna for their patriotic community celebration. We brought home the first place float award, and enjoyed visiting the community barbecue in the park after the parade.
The Sprague Hay Days was the new parade to the line up this year. We received the President’s Choice Award at this parade.
Sprague will go on record as the hottest parade we have participated in so far!
