EACHF auction deemed successful

With nearly a sold out attendance, the 22nd Annual Wine and Microbrew Tasting and Auction proved successful as locals gathered together at the American Legion Hall to support the East Adams County Healthcare Foundation.

The theme of the evening was Paint the Town Red, and a significant amount of attendees doted red in support of the auction theme.

Prior to the start of the auction, Curt Greenwalt presented Chuck and Claudia McCormick with the Friends of East Adams County Healthcare Foundation Award. The McCormicks were selected for their constant dedication and support of the EACH Foundation.

After enjoying a meal served by Classic Country Catering and enjoying a piano solo by Del Schwisow, the silent auction tables closed with a new table being highlighted this year. In addition to the donations made by local businesses and individuals, a group of home cooks baked up a variety of delights for attendees to bid on with an extensive amount of foods being available for purchase.

In the live auction portion of the evening, locals managed to raise over $13,500.

This amount nearly doubles the amount raised at the previous auction and allows the foundation to continue supporting the needs of the community, EMTs and schools.

Warren Kragt provided the entertainment for the evening and encouraged the bidding through his post as auctioneer.

The highest selling auction items of the night were a dinner for eight people at the Corral Restaurant in Warden, purchased by Mike Lynch, and an authentic Mediterranean dinner for six, bought by Kris Harder. Both of the auction items sold for $925 each.

The third highest selling auction item went to Chuck McCormick for $700. He purchased one year’s worth of advertisements in The Journal’s business directory.

Throughout the evening, those in attendance had an opportunity to participate in a variety of games and raffles.

Shelley Miller was the winner of the Seahawks basket raffle, and Ronna Galbreath won $200 in the Half the Pot game.

Karin Schaefer won the Card Game and received a box full of gifts, donated by CNO Brenda Herr, and her husband Greg. The prize included a variety of treats and practical gifts, and was valued at $500.
