The Lady Broncos hit the road this week facing Tri-Cities Prep and Northwest Christian in two away games on Saturday and Tuesday respectively.
In their match against the Tri-Cities Prep Jaguars, the team lost in four sets after three very close games.
The Jaguars would take the first set 25-12 against the Broncos. The second set the Lady Broncos managed to pull out a win 25-22.
In the third set, the Jaguars repeated their first set defeating the Broncos 25 to 21 and then swept the fourth set 25-14.
Head Coach Cari Galbreath said the girls were not as excited during the game and seemed to be just going through the motions at times.
Galbreath said the girls got down on themselves and allowed mistakes to influence the next play.
The Lady Broncos then had one day to prepare to take on the Crusaders in another away game.
Galbreath said the team worked on their defense and had some talks.
The Lady Broncos lost to the Crusaders but took them to five sets.
In the first game the Broncos held close to their opponent, falling 17-25. Galbreath said the girls came out strong but the match got away from the team.
The next game the Crusaders won decisively 25-9.
The Lady Broncos would rally in the third and fourth sets, taking them 25-20 and 25-18.
In the final set the Crusaders would clinch the match 15-11 over the Lady Broncos.
Despite the loss Galbreath said the team had improved overall, especially the more inexperienced players.
They were able to be mentally tough and push through the mistakes and they had some really great moments.
Galbreath said she was proud of the way the team fought and though they may not be where the team could be they had made some improvements.
The Lady Broncos volleyball team will travel again to Springdale to take on the Mary-Walker Chargers on Oct. 4.
Galbreath said the league is very close right now and that she did not know about the Chargers’ team but with them having the home court advantage and the Lady Broncos a long bus ride she anticipated it could be a close game.
