A longtime Lind resident, Jennifer Anderson has now stepped into the English teaching position at the Lind Elementary School. Anderson is teaching English classes for the third through fifth grade classes.
Anderson earned a Bachelor’s degree in education from Western Washington University and also holds a Master’s degree in education from Lesley University. To better prepare herself for the specificity of her new job, Anderson recently completed courses in the Englist content area.
For as long as she can remember, Anderson has always had a desire to teach. Her second grade teacher served as a motivator for her to pursue a career in education and the inspiration set her on the path to become a teacher.
Anderson began her career as a third grade teacher in the Kent School District in 1998. She took several years off to stay home with her four children, Jack, Sharon, Amy and Ryan, and is excited to be returning to her career. Anderson lives in Lind with her four children and her husband, Gerry.
For Anderson, the one component of teaching that constantly brings her back to the classroom is the positive impact teachers can have on students.
“I have the opportunity to help children have a successful future. My students are all unique and I enjoy the challenge of meeting all their needs and making school an enjoyable experience. A teacher can make a life-long impact on students,” Anderson said.
Anderson’s goals for her students throughout the year include celebrating their accomplishments and helping motivate them to put effort towards developing as students. One goal she has for the students is to establish their own learning goals and monitor their progress.
Her personal goal is to be more reflective about her teaching and be diligent in collecting academic date from her students.
