Bi-County Little League meeting Sept. 17

The Bi-County Little League Baseball Board of Directors are having a general board meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Ritzville Police Department’s conference room.

It may seem a bit early to be discussing the 2015 little league baseball season but there is a deadline set by Little League International that all leagues must have a meeting, with public notice given prior to the meeting, before to Oct. 1.

At the meeting the following offices must be filled by election: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Player Agent, Safety Officer, and Coaching Coordinator. These elections must be conducted at the general meeting, per the guidelines of Little League International rules and regulations.

Any citizen who is interested in being involved in the 2015 Bi-County Little League season is welcome to attend the meeting. Volunteer positions outside of the board of directors are also available, and any individual interested in volunteering is encouraged to attend the meeting. The Bi-County Little League functions solely through the efforts of volunteers.

The Bi-County Little League is comprised of players and coaches from Sprague, Washtucna, Lind, Ritzville and Odessa. In the Bi-County Little League last year, more than 170 boys and girls participated. Including other leagues the local teams competed against in inter-league play, there were over 300 children involved in the 2014 season.

The 2014 Bi-County Little League Baseball season is made possible through sponsorships. The sponsorship levels range from businesses to private citizens and allow the team to purchase uniforms, baseball equipment, and other items necessary for a fun and safe baseball season. The sponsorships also allow the field to remain in compliance with the Little League International standards.

In addition to uniforms and equipment, the sponsorship and player dues help pay the league dues, charter fees and insurance for the league. The program would be difficult to continue without the support of the sponsors and the Board of Directors are thankful for the continuous support and look forward to continuing the program next year.

Individuals are recommended to bring questions regarding the Bi-County Little League or the volunteer positions available to the meeting on Sept. 17.

The Ritzville Police Department is located at 209 North Adams Street.
