Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887

Voter Information Night slated at Ritz Theatre

A Voter Information Forum for Adams County will be held at the Ritz Theatre Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m.

Sponsored by the Ritzville Branch of AAUW, four matters of concern to voters in the general election will be presented.

The candidates for three races will participate in the forum.

The contests are as follows: Adams County District Court Judge, incumbent Adalia Hille and Carolyn Benzel; Adams County Commissioner District 3, incumbent Jeffrey Stevens and Jessie “Weno” Dominguez; and the U.S. Representative for Congressional District 4, Dan Newhouse and Clint Didier.

Gary Bostrom, CEO/CFO of East Adams Rural Healthcare will also present information on the upcoming bond issue.

The forum is informational, not a debate, and will be moderated. The judge candidates will each speak about their qualifications.

The remaining candidates will be asked selected questions, giving brief answers of two minutes or less.

Presentation and discussion of each issue, as appropriate, will be completed in 20 minutes.

Questions from voters must be submitted in writing prior to the event or at the beginning of the forum and will be vetted by AAUW members.

Questions from the public may be submitted no later than Oct. 3 to [email protected]. Questions must be signed and directed to a certain issue, race or candidate.

AAUW members are excited to be able to present to the public these four items of concern: three races and the bond issue, to be discussed in one setting.

Harriet Lynch, President of AAUW, is grateful the newly renovated Ritz Theatre is available for the event for comfortable seating and an upgraded sound system.

The event is scheduled for a two hour running time and should be an informative evening for all.
