Daryl Wallace Plager died on June 26, 2014. He was born on June 23, 1927 in Paha to Daura Pauline (Gleich) and Paul Henry Plager.
He was their third child, joining sisters Helen and Norma.
Daryl was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church. He attended elementary school and graduated from Ritzville High School in 1945.
After graduation he enrolled at Washington State College when he was called to military service in the Army, October 1945.
On August 20, 1949 he married Thelma Schoesler, a classmate since first grade.
They lived in Spokane while Daryl worked for Empire Cheese Co. and then Riverview Terrace Retirement while continuing his education at Whitworth College.
In addition to West Coast travels they frequently returned to Ritzville for family gatherings, holidays and harvest.
Daryl took the position of administrator at Bayou Manor in Houston, Texas in October 1965 and in 1970 became Administrator of Horizon House in Seattle.
He also graduated from Whitworth College that year. In 1988 Daryl and Thelma moved to Honolulu where he became COO of the Arcadia retirement community. After eight years, Daryl retired and he and Thelma returned to the mainland and moved into Emerald Heights in 1996.
