Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
A rollover accident proved fatal Saturday evening on eastbound Highway 26, six miles east of Washtucna. The accident left one dead and two injured just after 10 p.m. on Aug. 2, according to the Washington State Patrol report.
Fifteen-year-old Amber Johnson was driving the 2003 Dodge Caravan when she swerved, causing the vehicle to roll over multiple times before coming to rest on the eastbound shoulder facing westbound. Amber was injured in the accident and transported to Whitman General Hospital.
Brian Johnson, 43, a passenger in the vehicle was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Eighteen-year-old Ashley Johnson was also injured in the accident and transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center. Ashley was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the WSP report.
Dena Johnson, 43, and Alicia Johnson, 10, were both passengers in the vehicle but were not injured in the accident.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
