A few items have come to the city both as questions and problems and the fire department needs your help to solve them.
First, the question about fire pits, even with the “No Burn” in effect at present, it was decided that they will be permitted.
The requirements would be that they are no larger than three feet in size, that they have a screen cover and that you must stay with the fire and ensure it is out before leaving.
During recent fire calls, it has been noted that some alleyways are becoming harder to get the fire trucks through due to overgrown trees, bushes and debris being left in the alleys.
Each homeowner is responsible to maintain their half of the alley in regards to these items. Please check for these items and help so we can protect your property.
The last item is the city fire hydrants.
City code requires that all fire hydrants have a three-foot clear area around them; the city will maintain them by checking, painting and repairing them when needed.
