Phyllis Haight Bauer

Phyllis Haight Bauer died June 29 at the age of 90.

She was born May 23, 1924, in Spokane. Phyllis was raised in Ritzville where she married Wesley William Bauer on April 1, 1944. Wesley preceded her in death on January 10, 2014. Phyllis attended Willamette University from 1942-1943. She then attended the University of Washington, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1948.

She earned her Master’s degree in Education from Seattle Pacific University in 1982. Learning and teaching were her passions; she worked as an elementary teacher and librarian.

She retired from the Seattle School District in 1989.

Phyllis and Wesley moved from Washington in 1955 to Santa Barbara, California, and returned to Seattle in 1967.

In 1989 they retired to the Golf Estates in Woodburn, Oregon, where they lived the past 25 years.

Phyllis and Wesley were members of the University Presbyterian Church in Seattle where they made a lifelong circle of friends.

While living in Woodburn they were active in the First Presbyterian Church. They traveled extensively; a few favorite trips took them to Italy, China and Russia.

Phyllis and Wesley have one daughter, Gail Bauer of Woodburn, Oregon; two grandsons: Ryan Wesley of Woodburn and Andrew Jameson Bauer of Cornelius, Oregon, and two great grandsons; Hayden Wesley and Andrew Jameson Bauer Jr.
