Jane Allen Fitzgerald

A private burial for Jane Allen Fitzgerald was held May 11 in Washtucna Pioneer Cemetery and some ashes were spread in Kodiak, Alaska, where Jane and her husband resided and fished. Jane was born Aug. 9, 1950 to parents Amos and Bessie Allen.

Jane grew up on a wheat farm in Washtucna helping on the farm. She was active in the 4-H horse club in Kahlotus. Jane was also involved in Girl Scouts where she received their highest award the Curved Bar, the Washtucna Community Church, and school activities. Jane also played the piano and organ.

After High School Jane attended Whitworth University and Washington State University.

She went to Kodiak, Alaska one summer with a girlfriend to work in the fisheries and make money for college. There she met her husband Mike Fitzgerald. They were married Nov. 28, 1983.

She spent the rest of her life in Kodiak working as a bookkeeper in the fisheries, with the Alaska Fish and Game, a travel agency, mending fishnets, and fishing with her husband.

She graduated from the University of Alaska, Kodiak branch. She then owned and operated her own bookkeeping business.

She is survived by her mother; brothers Perry and family in Burbank, and Bryon and family in Washtucna.
