Area growers are invited to attend a Strip Trial/Growers Meeting at Mike Miller’s farm on July 9, beginning with registration at 5 p.m. The event is sponsored by AgVentures NW Seed Department.
The growers meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and the event is highlighted by new wheat releases from six different breeders: Washington State University, Oregon State University, Syngenta–AgriPro, USDA–ARS, WestBred and Limagrain.
At the trials, growers will be shown several selections of soft white winter wheat and one winter club wheat.
Both public and private wheat breeders are attending and available to answer questions at the meeting. David Shelton and guests from the Wheat Marketing Center in Portland, Ore., are expected guests for the evening event. Members of the US Wheat Associates and Foreign Wheat Trade teams have also been invited.
Drew Lyon, Endowed Chair in small grains extension and research/weed science, is going to speak about mustard herbicide resistance.
Following the field portion of the meeting, dinner and refreshments are served at the Miller’s home. Discussions will continue after the meal.
