Members of the community are invited to attend celebrations in Washtucna and Ritzville this Fourth of July.
Celebrations will begin in Washtucna this Friday at 6 a.m. with the Firemen’s Breakfast at Basset Park.
At 9:30 a.m. the parade will begin lining up at the corner of Main and May Street. Contact Lloyd Stoess at 509-646-3292 to register for the parade.
The Kiddie Parade begins lining up at the Parks Department building one block ahead of the main parade.

At 10:30 a.m. the Kiddie Parade begins, followed by the Main Parade. The parade will be lead this year by Grand Marshals Theresa and Patrick St. Hilaire. The St. Hilaire’s have lived in Washtucna since 1980 and they raised their six children there.
Patrick and Theresa have been very active in the community with participation in the Lion’s Club, Tigercat Booster Club and their church. The St. Hilaires are honored to be chosen as this year’s grand marshals.
At noon there will be a flag raising ceremony in Bassett Park followed by a barbecue hosted by the Lion’s club.
They will provide pulled pork sandwiches and chips but members of the community are encouraged to bring salads and desserts.
From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. there will be a free open swim at the Washtuna Pool provided it is ready by Friday. There will also be a Horseshoe Tournament at 1:30 p.m.
The sparks begin to fly in Ritzville on the night of the Fourth when the annual community fireworks display lights up the night sky at the Life Care Center of Ritzville. All community members are encouraged to attend
The Hillyard Belles begin performing at 6 p.m., and free face painting is available for children.
The Delores Foss family is providing complimentary popcorn, lemonade and cotton candy this year. Hot dogs can also be purchased for $1.
The show will begin at dusk.
