Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
The ninth annual Washtucna Classic Auto Show takes over the rural community on Saturday, June 28, when classic cars, trucks and motorcycles line Main Street in Washtucna.
The daylong event provides activities and fun for all ages, and displays a wide variety of vehicles.
The event is moving from the ball fields to the new location on Main Street with hopes of attracting more visitors.
The car show is now under the instruction of Jean Miller, following the retirement of Cliff Plumb from the chairman position last summer.
This year, the highlighted car on display is a 1956 Chevy.
Onsite registration begins at 8 a.m. and the registration table is located in front of Washtucna Town Hall. There is a $10 registration fee associated with the event.
The day begins with a breakfast served by the Washtucna Volunteer Firefighters from 7-10 a.m. The car show starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m.
The Washtucna band students and Memories Diner will provide lunch and the concession snacks from 11 a.m. until the conclusion of the show.
The proceeds from the concession booths are being put toward a trip to Disneyland for the Washtucna band students. Memories Diner is also donating a portion of their proceeds from the event to the fundraiser.
Throughout the day, local artist Jim Lisk is available to complete caricatures for visitors.
Also being highlighted this year is a booth for car owners to visit and purchase a photo collage of their own personal vehicle.
Other activities at the event include craft projects, benches and horseshoe art, various vendor booths, concessions and door prizes are awarded throughout the day.
All proceeds from registration fees benefit the community via enhancement and beautification projects throughout town, the work for which is provided solely through volunteer efforts.
Show and Shine awards for the car show begin at 1:30 p.m. and following the conclusion of the event, Sonny’s Tavern provides entertainment for visitors to come and enjoy.
