Theft of priceless bench leaves Lind community saddened

This past weekend the Lind community happily hosted hundreds of guests at the annual Combine Derby and from all indications a good time was had by all—all except the Lind Senior Center members who found themselves missing their handcrafted bench on Sunday morning.

Built by the late Howard Heil and treasured by all the members. The bench had not been bolted into place, as had other purchased and placed around the downtown area.

When Howard donated the bench to the center, I asked how we would go about securing it in place and his comment was, “If someone needs it bad enough to steal it let ‘em have it!”

Unfortunately, the seniors don’t feel that way! The bench is gone and so is its fabricator.

We have reported our loss to the Adams County Sheriff’s Department and so hope to reclaim our property. If anyone out there knows anything or saw anything regarding ouch bench, would you please contact the Lind Senior Center, 509-677-3620, or the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, 509-659-1122.

The bench was constructed of various ‘found’ items such as tractor seats and other western themed items, welded together to for study seating. We will be forever in your debt if you can bring our bench back to us.
