Residents reminded to be cautious when barbecuing

Ritzville City Fire Department released a short list of safety rules to follow when barbecuing.

Residents should maintain sufficient space between the grill and the home, and constantly supervise the grill to keep children and pets away.

If using a charcoal grill, the fire department reminds individuals to not add fluid to hot coals. Gas grill hoses should always be checked before using the barbecue.

To determine if there are leaks in the house, apply soapy water.

With the barbecuing season in full swing, residents should always follow the manufacture’s instructions and have grills repaired by professionals.
