Ritzville annexes Love’s property

The Ritzville City Council voted unanimously in approval for the annexation of the land currently housing the Love’s Truck and Travel Center during the regular meeting on June 3.

The motion to annex the property was made by Mike Scrag and seconded by Gary Cook.

The only discussion of the annexation was a question from David Grove to attorney Mark DeWulf regarding taxation at the site. DeWulf explained retail sales tax should be collected sooner than the property tax, as the sales tax is based on a quarterly system. The annexation ordinance was put into effect five days after the meeting.
