Chris Eugene Oestreich, 55, died suddenly from a heart attack on May 26.
He was born March 16, 1959, in Spokane, and was a lifelong resident of Ritzville. He was the eldest of five children born to Pete and Erma Oestreich of Ritzville.
He knew at a very early age that his career would be driving a truck. He was employed as a commercial truck driver for more than 33 years by Snider Trucking in Ritzville. It has been said he was a man of hard work and integrity and was very dedicated to his career.
He was versatile and talented at many things, including being able to fix anything mechanical. Most of all, his quick wit, personality, and huge heart were truly unequaled. It has been said he was one of those rare souls that would literally give you the shirt off his back if that’s what you needed. He was a loyal father, son, brother and a wonderful lifelong friend to many in the Ritzville area. His friends affectionately referred to him as “Hubert.”
He is survived by his two children, daughter, Christyn Oestreich, 22, of Spokane and son, Michael Oestreich, 16, of Ritzville; his parents, Pete and Erma Oestreich of Ritzville; and his siblings: sister, Kimberlee (Randy) Cameron; brother, Joel (Brigitte) Oestreich; sister, Lisa (Andrew Berg) Oestreich-Berg, all of Spokane; and sister, Gina (Matt) Sudden, of Post Falls, Idaho. He was also Uncle Chris to Mark and Eric Oestreich and Sarah and Megan Findley.
At his request, there will be no service. There will be a gathering of friends and family to remember him on June 21, from 1-5 p.m. at his home in Ritzville, 402 W. Third Ave. Everyone is welcome to stop by and share their memories of him.
Danekas Funeral Home of Ritzville is entrusted with final arrangements.
