LaCrosse senior Darcy Stamper had the opportunity to defend his state 2B title in the high jump during the State Track and Field Meet in Cheney last weekend.
Stamper became a two-peat high jump champion, winning the event with a jump of 6-04 and ending his high school athletic career with a state title.
Stamper also qualified for state in the long jump, and earned a third place medal for his 20-11.25 jump at the Eastern Washington University track complex.
Originally, Stamper had an airline ticket booked for Hawaii with his classmates that prevented him from competing in state, but the school district changed his flight to provide him with a chance to defend his state title.
Joining Stamper at the state meet was Jessica Guske, who qualified in shot put. Guske placed 15th with a throw of 26-02.50.
