ACSO dispatched to potential homicide

After receiving a call around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, regarding a potential homicide shooting in the Washtucna area, Adams County Sheriff’s Office dispatched personnel to the scene.

Adams County Sheriff John Hunt was unavailable for comment on the investigation, prior to the Wednesday press deadline.

In the initial call to dispatch, the complainant claimed to have shot a neighbor. Dispatch advised those responding the complainant was believed to be intoxicated.

The call originated from South Austin Road, just off of State Route 261 in Washtucna. Deputies searched for the complainant, and Washtucna EMS and fire were stationed on standby at the Department of Transportation lot off SR 261 to treat a potential gunshot victim.

A subject was located in a shed, according to radio traffic on Tuesday night, and it was unknown if the subject was armed. ACSO established a command post at Washtucna Pioneer Cemetery shortly after 10:30 p.m. to assess the situation.

One subject was taken into custody around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday and transported to the Adams County Jail. It was unknown at press time if it is a homicide investigation.
