Loss of art show leaves void in weekend

Boring, boring, BORING!

I don’t know who’s bright idea it was to do away with the art show on Memorial weekend but boy did you goof!

Since I moved here in ‘07, I have really enjoyed this weekend. All the wonderful artists, getting to walk around and see all the variety in their work.

Meeting the artists, enjoying them and their art. The venders on the street, the food, the smiles, the laughter of the children as they learned to Lasso, the staged gun fights, the ladies walking around in their Victorian dresses, (and yes and I was one of them) and so much more.

I took pictures of all the activities, even the boys cooking over an open fire (in the middle of Main street) and sent them out to friends and family, telling them about all the fun and neat stuff there was to see and do.

Well, this year, one of those families came here with their boys, to join in on the fun, only this year none of that was here.

So they went else where to spend their time and money. I am sure they were not the only ones to do that.

I had to laugh at the headline in the paper… Memorial Day weekend schedule filled with events, activities (quote: provides residents and visitors with an endless amount of activities during the holiday weekend, unquote).

Let’s see that includes showing the same movie three times, the grand opening of a store, the chamber hosting a Cache cow, and a book signing, and a dinner (for the alumni only), the car show on Sunday, and the annual pancake breakfast on Monday. If that is what the writer calls a weekend filled with events and activities they must spend most of their time taking naps.

Saturday, I took a walk down main street and there was nothing! Oh sure on Sunday they had the car show … So we traded three days of action, food, and fun for one day of cars. Now don’t misunderstand me, I love old cars … but not enough to give up all the other stuff we had.
