Banquet brings alumni home for reunion

Ritzville High School Alumni will gather for the 109th Annual Alumni Banquet and meeting this Saturday, May 24, at Gilson Gymnasium.

Ticket sales for this year’s banquet have closed. Alumni who have not yet received their tickets and name badges need to contact Marilyn Sielaff as soon as possible at 509-347-6188 or email at [email protected].

A total of 270 alumni will spend the evening at the event, which is catered by Longhorn Barbecue Catering of Spokane. The banquet begins at 6 p.m.

Toastmaster for the evening is Dale Anderson from the Class of 1970.

Visitors are welcome to check out the display of alumni memorabilia at the Railroad Depot.

The 6 p.m. banquet will feature the traditional roll call of classes, induction of the incoming class of 2014 and special recognition of the class of 1914, 1939, 1964 and 1989. This will also be the second graduating class of the Lind-Ritzville High School.

Any class wanting a picture to appear in the Ritzville Adams County Journal needs to be sure the photo is taken at the highest quality/resolution possible to guarantee good reproduction in the newspaper.

The newspaper will need those photos by noon on Tuesday, May 27, with all people identified and with names spelled correctly, for publication in the May 29 issue. Emailing of photos is encouraged to [email protected].

Officers for the RHS Alumni Association are Donna Koch, president; Marsha Reimers Smith, vice president/recording secretary; Del Schwisow, treasurer; Marilyn Sielaff, membership secretary; Gwen Benzel Schaefer, Darci Oestreich Kennedy, Michele Kagele Kiesz and Thomas Pulliam directors. Reunions for several classes will take place during Friday and Saturday. Party plans at press time are as follows:

• Class of 2004 - The 10-year reunion will be held at the Ritzville Golf Course Clubhouse from 4-9 p.m. on Saturday, May 24.

• Class of 1994 – They will meet at Big Bend Bowl Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and will be meeting at Memories Diner at 5:30 on Saturday evening.

• 25-year, Class of 1989 – Will meet at the home of Kim and Scott Yaeger Friday evening at 6 p.m. and then go downtown around 8 p.m. Saturday at 1 p.m. they will bowl at Big Bend Bowl and at 6 p.m. attend the alumni banquet. Sunday they will have a family picnic at the home of Dave and Sally Powers.

• 35-year, Class of 1979 – Friday night they will meet at Northern Quest Casino for a fun night. Saturday they will have golfing at the Ritzville Municipal Golf Course at 10:30 a.m. At 5 p.m. they will have a reunion party at the home of Brad and Debbie Gering.

• 50-year, Class of 1964 – Will meet at the Best Western Plus Bronco Inn on Saturday, May 25, from 2-5 p.m. and at 6 p.m. will attend the alumni banquet.

• 55-year, Class of 1959 –

The Class of 1959 will meet Saturday at the Wheat Growers beginning at noon until the banquet and again after the banquet.

• 60-year, Class of 1954 – Will meet Saturday at the Legion Hall at 2-5 p.m. and then attend the alumni banquet.
