Three killed in horrific wreck on I-90

An early morning collision on May 1 left three dead in a crash nine miles east of Ritzville on Interstate 90. The vehicle had been traveling eastbound, approaching the Tokio Road overpass when the vehicle left the roadway to left, reentered the left lane, only to go off the road again, causing the vehicle to go over the guardrail and strike the bridge support at 4:50 a.m.

Twenty-year-old Spokane Valley driver Gabriel Johnson was pronounced deceased at the scene, as were the passengers from Spokane, Mary Werts, 21, and Trevor Hallman-Person, 19. Johnson and Person had been wearing restraints at the time of the collision.

The cause of the wreck is currently under investigation and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
