Jantz, Shields bag career best golf outings

In the second golf match of the season on Monday, this one played on their home course, Tessa Jantz and Mike Shields, both freshman, recorded their career best games.

Jantz finished with a 50 and Shields shot a 39.

The LRS boys team finished in second place behind Colfax. The Bulldogs posted a team score of 213. The Broncos came in with a 227.

Inchelium finished with a 247. Cusick shot a 301 and St. John-Endicott fired a 302.

Thursday, March 20, the LRS golfers opened their season at St. John.

The boys team won the event with a 246. Asotin was second with a 248, St. John-Endicott posted a 294 and Tekoa-Rosalia finished with a 303.

There was a three-way tie for boys medalist with LRS’s Logan Morley in the mix with a 44.

Asotin’s Jake Gosse and Cody Johnsen also posted a score of 44.

On the girl’s side, Jantz picked up the medalist honors with a 58.

“It was a nasty, cold, windy day Thursday in St. John and the scores reflected it,” head coach Nick Weishaar said. “Everybody was up four to five strokes as an average. It even snowed a little on us.

“I was really happy the kids stayed focused and brought home the win,” Weishaar added.
