Eastern Adams County's Only Independent Voice Since 1887
President Obama’s “State of the Union Address” was received with the obligatory applause but even his oratorical skills couldn’t hide the lack of enthusiasm that he had shown in previous addresses.
He really made a serious blunder by not establishing some political capital during his first two years when he had both houses. His ambitions from previous years have basically been defeated.
His signature healthcare law that he has illegally amended 16 times is floundering and the prevarications that have been adding up are causing many of his liberal colleagues to distance themselves from him.
To keep from giving new meaning to the term “Lame Duck,” he needs to have the ACA find new life, avoid economic or international problems and help his party retain the senate. That would be a relatively modest but necessary goal for the remainder of his term. That is what he has to do to regain any trust from his constituents who are not happy with his performance.
President Obama needs to recognize that most Americans would prefer to see him perceived world wide as being powerful and trustworthy. Threatening the House and not honoring the constitution are not positive steps!
